Please Update:
Typhoon PCI Capture TV Card, Art.No. 50673
also known as Typhoon PCI Capture tv card (with a tiny note saying Philips 4134 chipset under the features section on the box/package.
Is Working with dscaler.
TUNER is Philips FI1216 MK Pal
This must be setted manually, the card is autodetected as a Flyview 3000 but then the wrong tuner is set.
I will post the regspy log in a new answer. _________________ dscaler 4.1.15

Also Philips FM1216 ME (Pal/Secam Multi works for me)
and Philips FM1256 MK3 (Pal/Secam D)
and Philips FQ1216ME MK3 (Pal/Secam Multi)
That was it, no other tuner worked
So which one should I use????

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here in DScaler and I want to ask for your help. I bought a 2nd hand TV Tuner (FLYVIDEO PLATINUM GOLD) with OS Driver but no Software Application included. I just want to ask what software application(suitable for WIN98, WIN2000 and XP) do I need in order to run this TV Tuner and also captures MPEG1 and MPEG2. Also please advise where can I download the software.
Thank you very much. |

It should work with dscaler.
Just give it a try, download 4.1.12 and try it. You don't need any other software. For recording, it will be good quality and speed from 4.1.13 onwards. You don't even need to install any driver
If the autodetected tuner does not tune, then you can try all other tuners of your region (Pal, Secam or NTSC) and if your lucky one of them works.
Beforehand you could search this forum for other platinum Gold users, if any? _________________ dscaler 4.1.15

This problem is related to your video card, not to your capture card. Maybe there is another application running that is already using the overlay? |

| How can I correct that problem? I tried restarting in diagnostic startup mode, but got the same error ; "can't create overlay surface 887601e0" |

Caesar,
That error number means that the overlay requested by DScaler is too big.
You can try to solve the problem in several ways:
- reduce desktop resolution and color depth.
- open dscaler.ini and set backbuffers to 1, if that does not work try 0. |

I did as you adviced, I reduced the screen resolution to the minimum possible, 640X480 and 256 colors, I also changed the "backfuffers" to 0 , but still got the same error, so I tried diagnostic startup and still didn't work, what is the next step to follow ?
Thank you. |

| Strange problem with my Asus 7134 card. When i turn off Dscaler the audio, for some reason, does not stop, though the quality does go back. |

Try updating the drivers of the video card.
This problem is related to your video card, not the capture card.
Updating the video card is normally the last option but I see you are using a laptop. |

I am able to set up the card for using TV Tuner using RegSpy and edit the INI file. While found that "Scan channel" or manual tuning channel are not working. I can view the TV by DScaler if I tuned to some channel using 3rd party TV apps, but if I try tune it in DScaler, it will show black screen, no matter what freq / channel / .. etc set.
I found that RegSpy got a modification "SAA7134_I2S_OUTPUT_FORMAT" when changing source, but seems no such configuration in the INI file, is it necessary for changing channels? Thank you very much.
The following are the differences from RegSpy when changing from composite to TV tuner:
Changes: State 2 -> State 3:
SAA7134_ANALOG_IN_CTRL1: 83 -> 81 (------1-) (same as 0, 1)
SAA7134_ANALOG_IO_SELECT: 00 -> 02 (------0-)
SAA7134_I2S_OUTPUT_FORMAT: 01 -> 00 (-------1) (same as 0, 1)
The following is my INI entry:
[SinoVideo PCI 2309 Proteus 7134]
DeviceID = 0x7134
DefaultTuner = philips_pal_i
GPIOMask = 0x01ce780
AudioCrystal = 32MHz
AutoDetectID = 0x20030919
UseTDA9887 = yes
Input ( "Composite", composite )
VideoPin = 3
AudioPin = line1
Input ( "S-Video", svideo )
VideoPin = 0
AudioPin = line2
Input ( "Tuner", tuner )
VideoPin = 1
AudioPin = dac |
