For those of you who are anxious with the CPU usage at 100% displayed in the Windiwos Task Manager, it is possible to reduce this value by selecting "Keep CPU for other applications" in the general hardware dialog box of DScaler.
Not suing Judder Terminator allows to reduce CPU usage even more. _________________ Laurent - team DScaler

I don't use Judder Terminator and also switched to "Keep CPU for other applications", but DScaler 4.x still needs almost 100% CPU. With version 3.x I could use Judder Terminator, "Use full CPU for best results" and even some filters and it didn't need 100%. What am I doing wrong?
I've an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ @2133 MHz, 512 MB DDR333-RAM, Windows XP SP1 and a Hauppauge WinTV Theater. |

Are you really sure that you are using the same settings as before ? I mean same amount of filters, same deinterlace mode with same settings ...
Are you using the native support (DScaler driver) or the DirectShow support ? _________________ Laurent - team DScaler |

The deinterlace mode was different. Thanks.
How can I find out which driver is used and which one is better? I couldn't find an answer to this question in the help file. |

All the sources before "Still" in the"Sources" menu are sources using the DScaler internal driver. All sources between "Snapshots" and "Media file" are potential external driver (DirectShow support). But note that DScaler with its DirectShow support cannot work with all drivers.
We recommand to use the internal DScaler driver, except if you have problems with it. _________________ Laurent - team DScaler |

I have introduced a new mode that avoid to have a high CPU in all circonstances. In my case, when using this mode and enabling almost everything in DScaler, the CPU usage is about 50% but of course I have judder.
This mode could interest users who wants to do something else with the PC when using DScaler and wants to always keep CPU for other applications.
The difference with the old mode "keep CPU for other applications" is that the old mode (still present) can use 100% CPU if you enable too many filters or choose a deinterlace mode asking too much to your CPU.
Will be available in the next release for BT8x8 and CX22388x cards using the internal DScaler driver. _________________ Laurent - team DScaler |

I use Dscaler in order to watch the TV
to reduce the cpu usage I select "Keep CPU for other applications" and I have eliminated the Judder Terminator
also I have selected Gredy 2 Frame as Deinterlace mode
I use CpuIdle software (cversion 6) because I have ABIT KT7A motherboard and with KT133 chipset the Idle it works perfectly.
Actually with DScaler (Exceptional software!!!) cpu usage is high is and Cpu temp with this settings is 42°
with PCTV software (bleah!!) usually is 38°
with JTV 3.0 (bleah!!!) cpu temp is 34-35
Is possible reduce it?
I use only a monitor 19" to watch TV |

I notice that the 4.1.7 release causes the text crawler on the news channels to jerk periodically. When I run 4.1.6 with the same settings, it does not jerk. I even notice the jerkiness on some scenes so this is a show stopper for me.

I switch from "Keep CPU for other applications" and turned off "Judder Terminator" and dropped my cpu usage from around 100% to an average of 38%
