I have downloaded the 4.01 public beta of Dscaler and was suprised seeing this option in the still options.
Cause i am a capper its very usefull to me and so i checked it out.
The first thing i noticed was, that in the options menu the delay between still could only set to a miniumum of 5 sec
So a checked out dscaler.ini to change it to 1 sec. It works, but there is a delay during the performing of the still. I selected JPG and 85%, so that only a small file is produced >100 kb.
Is there a way of removing this delays? i know that dscaler uses a lot of cpu power, but on an AMD @1,4GHz it shouldnt be! |

Hi
If I put a minimum delay of 5s, it was to avoid that DScaler tries to take a new still when the previous was not totally taken.
The delay you see is the time needed to take the still (lock the overlay, convert the buffer and save the result in a file). I cannot remove it !! How much is your delay with your CPU when JPG 85% (give me your pixel width too) ?
I will try to see if I can optimize that but I have not much hope.
PS: I added that feature for someone who needs to take stills every 10 seconds. _________________ Laurent - team DScaler |

Hi,
if i set the jeg quality to 85% it will takes about 2-3 seconds to perform the JPG screenshot. During this time the playing of the tv program ist on hold.
The very strange behavior is, that DScaler 3.1.0 which i am still using now only needs a half second to save an 1,2 MB tiff image.
I was hoping that with the introduction of JPG with file sizes below 100 kb in DScaler 4.01 would reduce this saving time to nearly zero.
They internal procedures in DScaler with overlay lock and coverting the buffer are not familar to me, but even saving tiff images in 4.01 takes about one second longer, than in the 3.1.0 version of DScaler.
For you my suggestions must be a little bit stingy, but believe me, that one second can be important to get a good screenshot from an tv show. |

| JPEGs take longer than TIFF files, since they need to be compressed before they're saved to the disk. |
