| i'm having major trouble in recording with the difference codecs you can choose. the only ones that really work are the low quality high compressed codecs..and the uncompressed avi recording option. but codecs like DivX won't work. |

Hi TPK: The timeshift code is experimental and unsupported.
Currently, there are no developers working on this part of the code. That being the case, I can't give you a good idea of when or if it will be improved.
Good luck! |

thank you for replying.
but isn't a option like timeshift one of the most important features a videocard software can have? i just don't understand why it's neglected like that. |

You have to consider the origin of DScaler and the interests of the developers to figure out why this isn't a primary feature.
DScaler is first and foremost a video processor application, not a PVR or recording application, and not a TV viewer program. What we are most concerned with is deinterlacing, inverse telecining, and other video manipulation/enhancement in real time. This stuff shows greatest impact on big projected screens.
That said, DScaler has a lot of secondary uses, which I think everybody welcomes, if it doesn't muck up the main goals too much. So, for instance, new developers are welcome to work on timeshift, if they are so inclined and their knowledge/curiosity permit. It would definitely be popular with a great many users. But the developers are rightly spending time on DScaler for their own personal satisfaction.
I would like to see it myself, and could imagine a really good timeshift feature, but for me it's still a second tier item. |
