Get the latest version here and the source here
The main changes are:
Fix for fading subtitles
Fix for DTS clipping
Fix for property page issues
As usual bug reports gratefully accepted. It would be helpful if when reporting bugs people said which software they are using and what renderer they are using.
Cheers

Hi, John. Great release. Haven't had any new problems with it thus far. One superfluous thing I noticed: the mpegvideo.dll version says it is 006, but it is 008.
Also, do you think there will be a deinterlace test for this release? I'm sure I'm not the only person who would be interested in using it.
Thanks |

Doh, thought I'd done the version thing this time, I mist try and automate this.
The next step for the deinterlacing stuff is to revisit a lot of the code and make sure the media type stuff all works properly. This may take a while, I'll probably post more regular interim releases as I go though.
Cheers

Still have the same two problems as with 5.0.0.7
1) Doing a jump in ZoomPlayer ( 10sec or 2 min ) can often result in the video freezing after the jump ( i.e. a frame of what the jump place should be is displayed but that then remains static ) *BUT* the audio continues fine as it should. Jumping around a bit more can fix this, but more jumps break it again too. This happens on either Overlay or VMR9. With either Microsoft MPEG2 splitter or Elecard MPEG2 splitter.
2) 16:9 to 4:3 changes ( or vice versa ) within the body of the file ( i.e. widescreen adverts play into 4:3 TV prog ) are not acted upon.
System:
ZoomPlayer on WinXP Home with SP2 fully patched.
On ATI Radeon 9600 card PowerStriped to output 25Hz 1024x576 PAL frequency.
Playback files are Nebula DigiTV recordings of UK FreeView TV progs. |

Did you get either problem with 0.0.6?
I might need a sample as I don't get this with stuff recorded through mce.

No. Neither.
5.0.0.6 ( and less ) did aspect switching within the file perfectly.
The only other problem I had with pre-5.0.0.7 was the "micro-stutters" discussed in previous 5.0.0.6 threads which have completely gone in 5.0.0.7 / 5.0.0.8 ( most likely because it now has deinterlacing ability ).

I can put onto a CD to snail send or open an FTP port for you ( although I only have 246kbs upward ). Take it to email to discuss either:

Yeah, ok. It was groovyclam. He confused me.
I dunno if you want to know this now, but...
I'm using the first interlace test (.007), and I've noticed what is possibly a bug. I'm watching batman the animated series - volume 1 - disc 2. Obviously, this is 4:3 material, and some of the later episodes on this disc are exhibiting a "tear" effect. I can see the two interlace fields coming apart during motion. What's odd is that I can skip to earlier titles that don't do this. Might be an authoring issue, I don't know. |

Im having a problem with Dscaler5. My HDV files (mpeg2) plays with 12 FPS. The Ligos codec plays them fine.
I have a sample vid if that would help. Just tell me where to send the link. |

Fix for DTS clipping
John |
Hi!
No yet. Very big DTS clipping in "Stereo" and "Dolby Stereo" downmix modes is still gere. It's a little lower in "16bit PCM" modes, but only a little and still is not acceptable. In downmix mode Dscaler plays much louder than AC3filter, which is free from cippings. And one thing else, it would be great to have an addition "Dolby Pro Logic II" downmix mode. I think it will be easy to make it.
Thank You. |

Hi JohnAd,
I also have problems with DTS clipping and that was the reason I stopped using DTS sound tracks with your decoder.
With this new release it works fine in 16 bit PCM mode, but in 24 bit PCM mode is still clipping.
I use it to downmix to 4 channels (2/2) mode. I have not tryed stereo.
The movie I use in which is very evident is The Chronicles of the riddick: Pitch Black. Between 3:00 and 3:30 min/sec there are a shot sequence that shows it very well.
Thanks for your great work. |

For some reason every version I can remember I've tried develops odd dropped frames. It's pretty predictable too. It will start out as smooth as can be and then after about a minute or two will drop a frame every now and then. I think it recovers and repeats the process afterwards but I'm not sure.
No other codec has this oddity on my system. Sonic Cinemaster, NVidia, Powerdvd... All more or less smooth. I haven't figured it out. |

Thanks for the feedback everybody.
Looks like I've got some work to do with DTS and the clipping issue.
Kram Sacul, I think I know what you mean, I see this too, I'm trying to get to the bottom of the problem, just not having much luck at the moment.
